Grilled Ahi Tuna
 



6   ahi tuna steaks, 4-6 oz. each  
  Marinade:  
1/4 cup    olive oil  
  clove garlic chopped  
2 Tbs    soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce or a combination of either  
2 Tbs    chopped scallions  
1 Tbs    fresh ginger, grated  
1 tsp    lemon juice  
1 tsp    salt  
1/2 tsp    ground pepper  
1   large red onion, sliced in six pieces  
 
1 Combine all above ingredients except red onion slices in bowl and mix well. Put ahi in shallow dish and pour marinade over ahi steaks. Refrigerate 1-2 hours, turning steaks over twice.
2 Prepare barbecue grill (preferably with mesquite). Grill onion slices until beginning to char and remove to platter.
3 Grill ahi steaks over medium-high heat, 2 minutes on
4 each side for rare. Top ahi steaks with the grilled red onion.
